What does /sci/ think of Mathematical Platonism?

It's literally about the philosophy of mathematics you absolute retard.

Does that mean that if you could reverse time and have the Big Bang happen all over again, you might get a reality where 2+2=5?

I don't think that there is any reason in trying to separate different metaphysical objects into their own "worlds", I doubt we have access to that kind of knowledge anyways. Mathematics seems to be a category of our understanding, something that rational beings need to have to make sense of the world. Plato got it right that we're born possessing all mathematical knowledge though.

No you retard it's the exact opposite it's saying mathematical truths exist outside of the contingent universe.

I feel strongly that only the physical exists but I can't prove it.

So... not math.

>> No.10536365

>>10536348
It's implicit in mathematics and you will engage with it regardless of whether or not you can name it.

no it's not. just give me axioms and bam. platonic "reality" has nothing to do with the axioms of set theory

Math uses a specific set of axioms as a base, if you change those axioms it's not math anymore.
Theorizing about what those axioms are and/or where they come from is valid, but not math.

Math isn't restricted to one set of axioms you absolute retard
