Someone help me with matplotlib while emotions settle.

I'm trying to use matplotlib to draw specific rectangles around my grid of cells, but through stack exchange and the documentation the only methods I see to add rectangles are like:

fig = plt.figure('ghfgh')
rect = fig.patch # a rectangle instance
rect.set_facecolor('lightgoldenrodyellow')

ax1 = fig.add_axes([0.1, 0.3, 0.4, 0.4])
rect = ax1.patch
rect.set_facecolor('lightslategray')

This creates a whole new window with the rectangle on a blank graph while the desired graph:

plt.matshow(grid(n))

Displayed with this method remains without a rectangle.

If I do:
fig = plt.matshow(grid(n))

I get:
" 'rect = fig.patch # a rectangle instance'
AttributeError: 'AxesImage' object has no attribute 'patch'"

Look at the chart, schizophrenia is not on a spectrum you either have it or you don't and there are literally no people that are "lesser schizophrenic" no such thing, you either have it or you don't and their are a multitude of schizophrenic variations that differ in the delusions presented, the people that could be a "lesser case" are people just entering psychosis slowly gaining more and more symptoms or people that inherited it not from birth but through other means and went to rehab for recovery(but even those people have a high likely hood of psychosis again later).

These people are capable of proposing new paradigms, thus they are also able to synthesize science and religion into one coherent (albeit very personal) paradigm. Because you can make a cellular automaton that acts as an accurate UTOE does not mean we are in a cellular automaton though, just that its one model that works. Since CAs can be Turing complete, and assuming our universe is intelligable, we can already be reasonable confident that an accurate model of our universe can be made with such a thing.

Negative mass, yes; assumption is generally that nature always works on absolute scales but fluid can have negative pressure, Veritasium has a great episode about it, and so does ThunderF00t. Magnetic monopoles - positive and negative - are the fundamental units according to Optimum Theory, so yes. Gravitons, yes; but more fundamentally gravity is a system of averages; imagine a number line from -10 to +10, and two planets of equal mass sit at both ends, what is the average? 0. They attract toward the center. Only reason they rotate each other is because they average toward their past locations, not their present locations (since gravity takes time to propagate and changing direction takes energy as well), so once complex motions are involved missed collisions are frequent and self sustaining, if that makes sense.
