milankovitch cycles are one of many components of climate change. While they are an important forcing factor, current CO2 depositing into the atmosphere, and ocean changes, are more critical to ongoing climate shift.

Remember, CO2 residence time is over 100 years.

>In January 1998, the collaborative ice-drilling project between Russia, the United States, and France at the Russian Vostok station in East Antarctica yielded the deepest ice core ever recovered, reaching a depth of 3,623 m (Petit et al. 1997, 1999). Ice cores are unique with their entrapped air inclusions enabling direct records of past changes in atmospheric trace-gas composition

>According to Barnola et al. (1991) and Petit et al. (1999) these measurements indicate that, at the beginning of the deglaciations, the CO2 increase either was in phase or lagged by less than ~1000 years with respect to the Antarctic temperature, whereas it clearly lagged behind the temperature at the onset of the glaciations.

Axial precession is indeed why the climate changes, doesn't have to be over a period of 26k years though. This is why we have what are called "seasons", the earth is tilted...obviously because it precesses. Man induced climate change is a meme. Man has nowhere near the coherency and power of a churning planet and space.

That's because his claim isn't wrong, it's just irrelevant. Milankovich cycles cause climate change, but not the current climate change. The fastest warming they produce is interglacial warming of 4-7 degrees C over thousands of years. That warming is an order of magnitude slower than current warming. Even more important is the fact that they are a predictable and observable *cycle*. We already had interglacial warming 12000 years ago. Now we are in the phase of the cycle where we would be slowly cooling back into a glacial period. But instead we are warming even more rapidly. So the insinuation that current global warming is caused by Milankovich cycles is doubly wrong. It has neither the power nor the correct timing to explain it. Luckily we already have a simple and well evidenced explanation: radiative forcing from the greenhouse gases man has emitted into the atmosphere.

That's just wrong, though. For starters, the Earth's orbit is slightly elliptical, and if the closest point to the Sun was taken as the radius of the new orbit the circumference would be more than 3% less than the current circumference.
