Exactly, we should be making ourselves smaller not larger. Less resources used, less space taken up, and (this will trigger tall "men") modern combat favors smaller size as you have less surface area to be hit with a projectile, and (assuming you are still relatively strong) you are more dexterous because of the square cubed law so you can draw your firearm faster and you have less distance to move your arm and weapon to aim it at your target (even if the absolute speed is slower you'll get there first) and get your shots off first AND because your opponent is larger and slower you can hit him more easily.
Assuming you can put the same amount of stopping power down range there is no reason not to make super soldiers and our species smaller, largeness is obsolete now. Keep women big though because giantess is hot.

If the goal is an optimal species we would likely change all sorts of drives level. Hunger intensity, sex drive, and also reward centers would likely be messed with. You'd want a lot of variation possible within the species of elf but nothing like human levels.

If we start from a new beginning we can throw out a lot of the ape shit and come out ahead.

Let's say this new species arrives. It is growing up in an average household. At some point it develops enough to realize it's parents are stupid, it's school is stupid, it's society is stupid, and everything around it except other "new species" and AI is hugely inferior. Not to mention parents dealing with this, schools, etc.

The pre-planning to properly manipulate society into acceptance and a softer landing to a new species arriving is pretty important. It's inevitable for all practical purposes so the PR and societal framework that exists for that first generation's arrival is pretty important.

Also the idea you'd want poor families to have access to these kind of children becomes insane. Imagine one of these engineered new species growing up in a hood. If anything we would want to separate them as much as possible from humanity contamination. Hence a unique identity is better to start to get it through people's heads they aren't human.

It's probably extremely similar to CPU systems. If we could find animals with higher density or higher synapse response times and re-incorporate that into our own systems we would get some big improvements. I just imagined it would be similar to CPU which give higher clockspeed at higher density but I don't know how it applies to neurons.

The reason it's so attractive is that higher clockspeed of a brain would make time "slow down". So if you doubled how fast your brain works somehow you would basically double your perceived life span. You could watch movies at 2x speed or read a fuckload more in an hour.

The point of pointy ears is a minimal distance new species. Hijacking existing views of elves in the process.

If you don't do something like pointy ears to separate the new species they get bagged into the human category which comes with a lot of existing baggage.
