engineers are such nerds xD

No, the point is that engineers are stupid.

no, the point is that different majors have different ethical values. this is something smbc has been pushing lately. nobody gives a shit

I guess it could have algorithms implemented into the hardware that would completely blow away any that we have now and thereby bring about a computational revolution that mankind might not be able to handle.

i instinctively middle mouse clicked on that picture because I hadn't seen it. upon review, I had to scroll back to this thread.

basically we all know what we are all thinking.

That guy isn't Asian. He looks white, perhaps Argentinian.

but asians aren't good at computer engineering and neither are blacks or any other race.

however, i'm willing to bet most computer engineers, regardless of race, are better than most asians, blacks, whites, browns, and reds, and that black computer engineers are as good as asian computer engineers.

Computer scientists spend entirely too much time on philosophy instead of computers or science.

Engineers get useful shit done.

The fuck are you thinking?

CPUs already have AES instructions and Bitcoin mining has been done on FPGAs since forever.

Sorry but I'm an uber noob (and not the person you're responding to). But can't you build stuff using logic gates?

Also, computer science seems pretty cool. Category theory, automata, complexity, discrete math, it's all good. Even the more programming side of it like programming paradigms and programming language grammar and so on is pretty cool, why do you guys hate on it so much?

>> No.5666485

>>5666466
I was referring to the reason those encryption methods work is because the algorithms used for breaking them run in a fuckload of time. So if there were algorithms that could be used for breaking them much faster then they would be rendered useless.

RSA for example requires you to find two prime numbers that generate a given composite number. This is incredibly difficult to do when you're dealing with numbers hundreds of digits long.

>> No.5666493

>>5666478
You can. Hardware based programming was essentially how the original mechanical computers operated. It's just incredibly inflexible.

>> No.5666507

>>5666478
But then it's not an algorithm, its a circuit implementing a blind function.

>>5666469
you mean dxva and GPU/SIMD? That's not really "implemented into the hardware"

Again, Shor's algorithm. Broken for decades.

>Yeah, who care if that is more than the atoms in the known universe

Why on earth does that matter?

We can do 10^14 computations a second now, with a simple bruteforce method it wouldn't take impossibly long.

>> No.5666594

>>5666576

because at 10^14 computations per second, it would take 3.6^55 years to find all of the combinations

I think americans don't like it because since there are a lot of shitty universities a lot of stupid faggots came out from that major, since it's somehow popular, but I'm not sure.
