While this is an understandable conclusion, I don't think we can know yet whether it's absolutely necessary for there to be something that "came first".

Agnosticism is only tangentially related to theism/atheism. Theism and atheism say whether you BELIEVE there is a god. Agnosticism says whether you believe we can ever truly KNOW if there is a god.

Absolutely not true. From a Vedic perspective, we turned away from God as an expression of free will. I doubt most people would willingly convert even if God were proven to them. Put it into more realistic terms - if a nation were able to PROVE that they could cure disease and aging, but in order to get these cures you had to give up every personal freedom you might have - would you do it?
