You can't see the NPP from Pripyat. It's nowhere near that close.

also, cooling towers. Wow, because the audience wouldn't know what it was without cooling towers, which is why everyone thinks coal plants are nuke plants.

Of course you CAN see the NPP from Pripyat. An example is the Pripyat's hotel's viewing terace situated on the next to last floor if I remember correctly. I've been there. Let me show you a picture I made myself.

Despite the obvious failure to depict the plant accurately, what is this movie about exactly? I might be interested.

Yeah it's got a pair of big wide cooling towers like the power plant in the Simpsons. I guess it's what people think of when they imagine a nuclear power plant, but Chernobyl never had them.

Technically, they were building towers for new reactors until the accident happened. Let me provide you with another pic of mine.

You can also see them on google maps, just a bit SE from the reactor number 4. You can also notice how close the plant is to Pripyat', as opposed to a poster I replied to earlier says.

this one is in Chernobyl, not in Pripyat'. it's a memorial for all the villages and towns that had to be abandoned.

if I recall correctly, 72 villages and 2 towns (Chernobyl and Pripyat') were evacuated. including places which were too small to have a name, 200. about 200,000 people, though I may be off - it's been almost a year and I haven't been reviewing the info.

that's about it, I guess. the other photos simply aren't as interesting. but you have to actually go there to feel the metaphorical ghosts of the zone.

the workers of the zone.

Chernobyl (though not Pripyat') is actually populated now - by people preparing the building of the new sarcophagus. they only stay there a couple months at a time and have shorter work days than workers in normal areas, but the plant itself isn't abandoned per se.

nope. Chernobyl is the name of a small town located near the plant, though farther than Pripyat', which was a small city built for the workers of the plant. iirc there's also something called Chernobyl-2, which is the location of the Eye of Moscow and was not marked on maps in soviet times.

it's like an action movie about a rocket that comes off the bad and starts flying around trying to blow people up because of "a computer glitch". even if most people don't honestly think shit like that doesn't happen, it reinforces incorrect notions and slides us further back in terms of common knowledge about science and technology
