I once passed a test that no one else passed, i was graded by a computer because that test was made in a computer and i was the only one who passed that shit from my generations, even people from other groups couldn't passed it.
When the teacher was giving our grades i mysteriously got 59 and i needed 60 to pass

Human interpretation is subjective and the reality of the situation is simply that your instructor is going to look at the work of the student they see coming to their office hours every day and talking through problems and asking questions during class, etc. differently than the work of the student who never asks a question or engages with them in any way, no matter how smart you are (or think you are). It's no different than when you try approaching people for letters of recommendation: Don't be surprised when an instructor you never interacted with outside of handing back your graded assignments has nothing to say apart from "they got this grade in my class".

I never had this feeling beside in the language classes. It felt like the grading of text was more influenced by the general view of the teacher of how good the student is than how good the text is. I think the teachers who are teaching you shouldnt be the one who give you grades for texts, it should be a teacher of another school who has no idea who you are.

South of the border here as well. Went to a public uni in Brazil for Physics and quickly realized I had almost no seniors(80% dropout rate for decades). The course was not about learning definitions in a nice progression but meaningless pattern recognition, most of it outside of the class. A good course gives you what you need to grade well in the lectures and classes, along with plenty of progressive redundancy. A bad one has these awful knowledge gaps, the material was sometimes basically wrong, professors working only 6 hours a week total and even then not coming to class, no focus on the reading material itself. Then I learned there was politics involved, the less students graduate the more money the uni receives. The ones who graduated sacrificed so much it is insane, and this was seen as normal. Normal would be if professors actually wanted you to learn and pass. But in the case of third world public unis it is about having a pre-planned dropout rate quota. It is not just you anon, lol

If this was a private institution their incentive would be getting you a diploma, simple supply and demand, and at the top there would be private institutions known for their quality(takes years to build reputation), so a compromise between course complexity, quality and you just getting the damn diploma :D

Now about these mixes of private and public, or private uni with megacorp Blackcroock giving the credit, then it might return to the high dropout monopoly incentive again, with some Special Citizen Class added for agenda and ideology purposes, or whatever the cause.
