But is it tho? How can numbers give rise to subjective experience? Maybe having subjective experience is simply the default, but then why am I me and exactly me and not somebody else? Open individualism tries to work around this by saying "you are everyone at all times".

No it doesn't. Religion is just the computational order of plato's realm, it's the ethical order that governs collective human behavior. That's literally what it is. What this obliterates is the nonsense supernatural components of religion, which never really mattered in the first place and we're better off without.
