No most people in England are atheist. I grew up in England, in my whole class of 40 or so kids there were only 1 Christian all the others were atheist or agnostic (there were no Muslims). There is nothing new about atheism.

The way I see it, a society will fall apart with no higher ideal to strive for or to be judged by, no matter if that higher ideal is impossible for us humans to reach or not.

Case in point: People will inevitably come to a more or less fleshed out idea what traits a hypothetical perfect person/leader would have in order for society to prosper and then use that as a higher ideal.

You may personify that higher ideal as a god or not, in the end it doesn't really matter imo.

Muslims have realized that the entire game is a fucking hoax: just keep killing people and eventually even your ideological opponents will defend you.

I'm not saying whether this is morally right or wrong, it's clearly morally heinous, but Christians really need to reconsider using violence if they pragmatically want to get results. One Christian slitting the throat of a critic is a lone madman. Five Christians doing this is a "SEE? ISLAM ISN'T THE ONLY RELIGION THAT BREEDS TERRORISTS!" moment. Ten Christians doing this is a "Wow, Christianity sure is dangerous" signal. Hundreds and hundreds of Christians doing this? "Don't connect these deranged madmen to Christianity! Christianity is a religion of peace and you're preaching Christophobia! Don't give in to hate!"

Those are the rules we have ourselves as a society set. Now the question is how long it will take for Christians to realize that these are the unwritten rules of our "liberal" societies.
