Nice "experts" /sci/, I'm laughing with my P100 respirator and goggles.

>"those masks don't help guys they're more for people who are already sick and can help prevent them spreading it".
>people with covid-19 don't realize they're sick for several days, or even weeks after infection.
Hmm, really activates the almonds.

it takes skill to fit them on snugly, is only one part of a suit that will actually protect a person that has to touch covid patients - and even then the mask only is reliable for 3 hours

If people start to hoard them then the health workers won't have them.

But they should have just said that. Now people call them out on their bulshit and the trust towards authorities was eroded once more.

bought a high grade gas mask with 5 spare particle filters and 30 n95 disposable masks 2 months ago but haven't used them for anything. thinking of selling the 30 disposable ones now

so that's what all those years of med school are for. no surprise since most health professionals are rote memory midwits. they shouldn't assume the rest of us have their mental handicaps tho.

This is total bullshit.
Unless a sick person spits right on the filter/mask they're fine to keep using. 3M says so themselves.

A lot of the guidelines from American hospitals come from place of privilege where during normal times they had effectively unlimited PPE supply why you have nurses going through 40 masks in a day or destroying reusable goggles after single use. In poorer medical systems they have methods to make PPE last longer and provide effective care.

Doctor here. First let me say that CDC, WHO and US Surgeon General are very likely simply wrong, masks work for general public. East Asian countries have more epidemiologic experience both from SARS outbreaks and from actually managing to control the spread of covid. And their virologists recommend mask use for general population.

Second, it does not matter whether we are talking about P100 respirator worn by an experienced doc or a homemade cloth mask worn by a random person. Both are better than nothing and should be recommended.

you're overestimating the average asshole.
they can't even wash their hands ffs.
For them a N95 is total waste, just use a scarf

So why did they even say this in the first place? Why would an N95 mask protect doctors but not others? And the unprotected eyes thing is bullshit, you're much more likely to suck in the virus than to touch your eyes with contaminated hands (if you aren't retarded).
