Hawaii has tutorial mode climate as well, yes. But in general, Europe is one of the only landmasses with a significant enough area that has it.
Most tropical places have unstable weather and high levels of aridity for a large part of the year, or even permanently. The only other major place that compares to Europe is SEAsia.

If cold winters select higher intelligence you would expect eskimos to be geniuses, the smartest race is the ashkenazi Jews and their ancestry is closest to Sicilians and Cypriots, both warm Mediterranean islands.

Temperature still affects IQ, but the effect is extremely slight. And no matter how you slice it, Europe doesn't get very cold.
Factors like geography and population density and past history play a much bigger role.

I actually think that lower IQs are superior to higher ones. If you look at the WHOLE history of humanity, it is one of shrinking brains, lower IQs, and higher fertility. The conclusion to draw would be that fertile dumb individuals are superior in the long run.

Also white IQs (and black American IQs) are massively boosted due to wealth. Real white IQ is around 95, real black IQ is around 75. Real Indian/Arab/Latino IQ is around 90 (they suffer the opposite effect, artificial depression due to poverty). Real East Asian IQ is 104, and Southeast Asian IQ is 101, roughly.

You'll also notice that ALL morphological traits follow a Northeast-Southwest cline within Eurasia. Which is to say that whatever is common in the east, is also common in the north.

picrel shows it for brain size, but it also holds true for facial hair, canthal tilt, facial breadth, torso ratio, cranial shallowness, gonial angle, and probably a metric fuckton of other stuff.

This is why Europeans look "Asian" compared to Arabs, on virtually every trait imaginable (except superficial pigmentation of course). It also means that all Eurasians are essentially a mix of two main races--a Siberian one and an Arab one, both extremely ancient from at least 60,000 years ago.

I read a few articles about the cold weather north-south distribution of IQ in both japan and Europe show this same pattern of a higher IQ in a colder area.

I just wanted to point out that their are other factors less obvious than climate that influence intelligence.

My example of the IQ of eskimos, and ashkenazi Jews, cannot be explained by the cold weather hypothesis.

There must be other factors at work.

population size. If IQ is beneficial, then a large population develops higher IQs than a small one. This is one reason why Americans and Siberians only have an IQ of 90 or so. Of course another reason is just poor environment/bias, because hunters don't exactly spend much time reading or caring about tests.

If there had been some way for Americans to develop a civilized society before getting swarmed by Euros, they would have easily been the highest IQ population in the world, especially the Northern ones. Even moreso than Korea.

I still don't think IQ has ever been beneficial for the last 60,000 years, if not longer. High IQ is just a relic/vestigial structure. It exists because of past pressures that disappeared 60kya. However, high IQ people invent/create better things, and these inventions allow the low IQ populace to invade other territories. Domestication of the dog, cow, horse, etc. all took place outside of Africa.

But these invasions enabled by high IQ inventions are still pale ghosts (pun intended) of the initial fertility-based invasions out of Africa. Dumb fertile people may not be glamorous, but they work, as seen in modern Africa.

Asia has more climactic changeability than Europe as well. Which is probably why Asians have higher IQs than Europeans. They get just as cold (or colder) winters, but also experience harsh summers and all around hostile (but still within the realm of manageable) environments.

Europe is cool, but it is also extremely mild and static compared to Asia. The cold weather may have selected for "plan ahead" traits, but the staticness of the climate meant it never got as far as NE Asia.

Compare this to Australoids who inhabited SEAsia, which is undebatably the easiest mass environment on planet earth. They underwent a famous Genghis-tier expansion due to the riches here (haplogroup K2), but degenerated and were conquered almost completely by northern Mongoloids (haplogroup O). They also have the lowest IQs on earth.
