Or do we just fear the pain that usually come with it?

Some animals don't seem to care about death and sacrifice themselves willingly to ensure the survival or their colony/offsprings
Do you think an antelope flees from a lion because it know it means "death" or because it knows it will suffer a gruesome one?

Our own cells are programmed to commit sudoku if they become a danger for the rest

So why do you think this fear is pre-programmed within our brains?

Our ancestors did not, for they fully believed in reincarnation. They knew they would return after a few generations. The only thing they feared was failing to have children and living a dishonerable life.

Fear of death is a phenomenon that arrived with (((Christianity))).

Are you retarded? Do you think some religion centered around reincarnation comes natural to humans or some shit?

We do not fear death, we fear nothingness, because you can´t think of nothing! What is nothing?

Obviously the animals that feared pain and death survived instead of the ones that didn't and were able to reproduce, hence that fear is passed down through the generations. If you see a lion charging at you, it's fear that makes you flee. It's not about whether fear is better or worse, it's just that animals that had fear survived more often.

I can't speak on behalf of everyone but of course we fear death, not just the pain. It doesn't scare you to think that you could suddenly slip out of consciousness and never wake again? Maybe if you've achieved a lot in life you are more scared of death.

i fear not instilling as much value into this lief b4 i fucking die. death will be a release from this fear whether this existence amounts to anything or not. as it stands right now i run the risk of becoming locked inside of myself if i continue down this path of isolation. i gotta get a fucking job after this jury duty bullshit

I like being conscious and being able to do things. Death robs me of this. Therefore I fear death,

what the fuck are you even talking about?
people don't want to die because they actually like being alive and do and experience stuff
you have to be physically falling apart from old age or some gruesome disease, or your life must be unimaginably shitty in general to actually welcome death

Why would you fear death as a genuine Christian? Stuff like memento mori came about due to Christian thought but it wasn't the fear of death, just the thought that it is an important thing and you should remember it's gonna happen.
>>11370453
This, it's not so much death, rather oblivion that is something to be fearful of. I think everyone is scared of the concept of eternal unconsciousness (which isn't even the right word since you're still alive and can process things like dreams while unconscious) even if they don't think about it much. It's just unthinkable and genuinely terrifying since there's no way to even imagine it. How could you look forward to that?
Unless they really do live fucked up awful lives but nobody with the time and resources to be posting here should be pretending that.

i'm a shapeshifter. i've changed back to not giving a fuck about anyone or anything. life is confusing. it's difficult to understand how the fuck i should conduct my thoughts/feelings. i'm quite fond of not caring about anything and if i can sustain it i'd liek to remain this way. hopefully i'm at the tail end of this disease known as altruism.

We don't fear death, we just fear absolute nothingness followed by it.
Try to think about absolutely nothing, nothing at all not even space and then apply the concept of an infinite amount of time. It's a very strange thing to think about, and the unknown is something things tend to fear.
