It's really about getting rid of everything useless catching your attention. You have to force yourself in situations without them.
A person with adhd locked in a room with calculator, a text editor without wi fi and a book with math problems will solve them all instead of doing nothing.

What I did was I'd sit in the bathroom with the lights off for half an hour everyday and did my best to clear my mind (focusing on a single word helps with this, and don't force yourself, just try, if you catch yourself thinking about something else, just move your mind back to the word, no stress). In general, just try to catch yourself when you're thinking about something else, when I'm in class, my phone vibrates every minute to remind me to pay attention. Think outside the box, as each case is different, and try new methods. If they don't help, move onto the next, if they work, keep using them. Godspeed friend. I have been diagnosed with autism, and have been thinking for a while that I may have adhd (innatention type).
I've been daydreaming since I was in elementary school, I could never for the love of god focus when I was in classes and was always gazing at the window.

Up until now I thought I was just lazy (probably because that's what most people tol me I was) so I tried many things but nothing helped:
-in middle school I got into some soccer club for three years and even developped good endurance thanks to it
-two years ago I took a membership at a gym in my neighborood, went there for a couple of month and quit when I saw it didn't help much
-I try to make as much exercice as possible like going out and walking as much as I can for hours, but again it doesn't help (the thing with sport is if I stop for a time and then take it back I have this temporary feeling that it helps improve my focus, but this feeling only work the first time)
-I developped some habit of fidgetting and bouncing my head to help me get focus on the lecture, didn't help, and for this one I have had trouble getting ride of some fidgetting I took. I was even seen as this weirdo who was trying to get attention at my uni.

For losing my things I have developped some strategy like keeping everything in one single bag and trying to go out two time if needed (for two different event) to avoid taking something important that I could lose (since I know I probably would). What really bothers me more than any other symptom is that I cannot follow conversations/presentations, it's already a huge problem in my studies but in the professional world I feel like I won't be able to survive. I also always had this feeling that I was living my life through a screen, but this one could be because of my autism.

All that's left now is medication, really hope that one will help.

>> No.11109004

Abandon strategy and embrace chaos. Hopefully the medication helps but I expect just like exercise the benefits will disappear after a short while. You don't. It's how your brain is wired.
Learn to live with it.
Ideally learn to USE it to your advantage.
'Hyperfocus' can be your friend but you have to learn how to leverage it. You have to learn to make yourself interested in things you might not be interested in so hyperfocus kicks in and you're effectively smarter for the duration of hyperfocus.
Learn the coping skills to work around the rest of it.
Most of all stop beating yourself up over it and thinking you're worthless. You're just wired differently.

With real ADHD you lose your train of though mid sentence. You place a screwdriver on the table, move to do something else and forget where the screwdriver was as it would have never happened.
You really know that you have ADHD by noticing a *processing* *delay* between what you're doing and what's happening. So you're scanning a circuit board for broken components but your mind is faster than your eyes. It's like there's a bandwidth problem. You can also tell by handwriting looking like dick and having no general direction.
As a kid I was diagnosed with dyslexia but I think it really was ADHD. People with it BTW like to work out because it increases dopamine levels which doctors say they are deficient in.

i'd stay away from drugs. i took ritalin and/or adderal from age 7 to 14 for ADHD. if you take stimulants you may feel that they help, but it won't last. it will end up burning you out, where your dopamine receptors are essentially fried and you have trouble feeling excitement or joy.

from my experience the best thing to do is to live a moderate lifestyle. don't use hard drugs (including pharmaceuticals like adderal), drink moderately if at all. diet is also important. make sure you eat plenty of leafy greens, no sugary foods, etc.

one of the most important things, imo, is to stay away from artificially stimulating activities like vijya gaymes, social media and cell phone use, television and movies. your brain is like a vagina or asshole. if you stretch it out all the time with hyperstim, you're not going to enjoy regular sex as much.

pay attention to your biorhythm. when are you the most focused? plan your day to take advantage of these times. for instance, i know that im the most focused when i first wake up, so i take care of things like cleaning the house, writing, programming, business stuff in the morning, as soon as i wake up. between probably 11 and 3 all i can think about are feeding, fucking, and sleeping. if i do all three of those I usually have a second wave of energy for activity. I try to be in bed by no later than ten or eleven.

last and certainly not least: get lots of aerobic exercise, the more intense the better. this is the most important thing for regularizing endorphin your levels. I'd even go so far as to say that people with ADHD are simply physically mal-adapted to modern sedentary and hyper-linear 9-5 robot lifestyles.

I want to be able to sit down and read. It's impossible without adhd meds. Studies show that early intervention with ritalin (in your teens, not when you are a toddler) helps develop your full potential, even if you want to come off meds when you're adult. I wish I was diagnosed earlier but I wasn't hyperactive at school and fell under the radar.
The biological vs. personality debate, mental disorder vs. developmental disorder, etc. really don't matter. I don't know whether I'm a worthless piece of shit or there is legitimately something genetically fucking with my cognitive function, I'm diagnosed ADD and it's been a lifesaver having access to meds that help and therapy that's actually relateable. I still feel I might have irreparable mental retardation but I'm healthy now, am able to sit behind a computer and read books without wanting to pull my hair out, and the meds have allowed me to reclaim a life for myself. Giving teens ritalin isn't going to fuck them. I also wonder if meditation might be helpful. It seems to increase dopamine in the brain. There are also articles reporting meditation improved ADHD symptoms.

've seen some psychiatrists advising re-framing ADHD as an executive function/time perception disorder. That might be a helpful way to think about solving ADHD related problems.

OP, you wanna increase your body's production of acetylcholine.
To do you this you need to
>Take a strong b-complex, try to find one with high B1 (100mg per tablet) and low B6 (10-25mg per tablet) and take two of those everyday with your meal
>Eat at least 4 egg yolks per day to get choline
>Take 400mg of magnesium everyday (used as a cofactor for the b vitamins)

If you're allergic to eggs, do not supplement with choline, supplement instead with alpha GPC or a very similar nutrient like trimethylglycine. Do not supplement b vitamins on their own.

some tips
1. eat well. Nutrient deficiencies can drastically cut down on your brain capacity.
2. don't overwork yourself. You have only so much brain capacity at your disposal, trying to push yourself furter than that will lead to failure; don't try to do too much at once, studying for one hour each day is far more effective than studying seven hours once a week.
3. follow routine. You may not like it, but try it. Even though it seems routine should dumb you down, the opposite is true, and routine increases creativity in areas that are not part of the routine.
