Just saw this on seinfeld. How are these things supposed to work? How can a repeating pattern like this produce an entirely distinct larger picture?

Fresh off the boat, from reddit, kid? heh I remember when I was just like you. Braindead. Lemme give you a tip so you can make it in this cyber sanctuary: never make jokes like that. You got no reputation here, you got no name, you got jackshit here. It's survival of the fittest and you ain't gonna survive long on 4chan by saying stupid jokes that your little hugbox cuntsucking reddit friends would upboat. None of that here. You don't upboat. You don't downboat. This ain't reddit, kid. This is 4chan. We have REAL intellectual discussion, something I don't think you're all that familiar with. You don't like it, you can hit the bricks on over to imgur, you daily show watching son of a bitch. I hope you don't tho. I hope you stay here and learn our ways. Things are different here, unlike any other place that the light of internet pop culture reaches. You can be anything here. Me ? heh, I'm a judge.. this place.... this place has a lot to offer... heh you'll see, kid . . . that is if you can handle it...

holy fuck bro, i was the one who said it looked like a bullseye in the top right and a box on the bottom left and i honestly just realized that ever since a kid i've been doing these wrong

i used to cross my eyes (as if i was trying to look at the tip of my nose) and look for the 3D image and if i do that i see bottom right box and the thing on the top right i thought was a bullseye (but i notice it is a box/die now) it looks as if it is a hole in the "page" and not higher than the page like the die is. i tried doing it the other way -- focusing my eyes further than the page, and i see it as if it is two dice falling on a wavy surface. holy fuck dudes, i crossed my eyes for years and now i finally learned -- focus behind the page

there isn't a single plate that is, all are. The way the illusion works is that convex and concave shapes look extremely alike (especially without stereoscopic vision), so our brains tend to expect convex (as these are far more common), until it finds enough clue the shape is actually concave, when it suddenly switches to the correct shape. The "one that isn't" is merely the one you happened to be looking at when it happened.

It doesn't take focus. Just look at the feet and shadow/reflection to change direction. And maybe blink a couple of times.

You have to move it little by little.
The offset corresponds to depth and where it goes solid grey is the part of the 3D object at that depth.

These aren't troll images.

They *really* do change direction, depending on your mind.

I fucking hate this shit

Cross eye is easy to learn because you can just put a pencil halfway between yourself and the image. I've been able to stereo view cross eyed for over 10 years but I've never been able to 1000 yard stare at something right in front of me.

>> No.11098316

>>11098309
The focusing of your eyes is important. When I do it, first my vision gets blurry, then I slip into a 1000yd stare, and the binocular vision slips in place.
Once you can see something moving, only then do your eyes regain their focus.

So I never got these and now I did some googling

From wiki:

>However, there is an exception to this: those with a true congenital alternating squint. Those with true congenital alternating squints have two healthy eyes, and the ability to switch (by choice) between seeing with either eye. However, stereoscopic and three dimensional vision can never be achieved in this condition (attempts to train those with true congenital alternating squints into binocular vision results in double vision, which can be irreversible).

Is this not normal? I can switch between both eyes but I also see in 3D, or at least I think so. Pls help /sci/

Somehow way back in elementary school I managed to learn how to relax my left eye and go wall-eyed at will. I used to use it to give adults who lectured me two heads/bodies so I wouldn't take them seriously, but I was also thrilled to find it meant I could see Magic Eye books instantly too, while all my friends and family took a while to see the stereograms themselves.

I'm happy I can still do it and go parallel-eye at will, even now.

For those of you who have a bit of difficulty with these, just cross your eyes so that two similar points on the image become one. Some people have eyes that are slightly higher or lower than each other and you'll need to tilt your head just a tiny bit to line the two images up.

See how this image has an obvious repeating pattern? Just cross your eyes only enough to bring two like parts of the image together so they lock into place. The resulting, working image, will look like someone cut something out of the colors with scissors. Hold that cut out in your vision, don't move your head at all, and keep looking at it, you'll notice that some of these types will have extra layers of depth.

I dislike the ones like these that have actual images of the object in their makeup. I think that detracts.

go very close to your screen, so close its all blurry. dont focus on the screen but try to "look through" it, as if youre focusing on something very far away. then move back your head slowly, while keeping your focus very far away. thats when the 3d thing will pop up at some point. some people can also just look through it right away without going close first but thats how i do it
