Why is there such a push to get young girls interested in science? Aren’t most college students female now?

Do women not innately have an interest in science? Do feminists recognize that and try to even the playing field by overcompensating?

because we are having a big discussion about gender and how it influences people. men are influenced to go into discovery, design, building etc... women are influenced to go into teaching, managing, nurturing etc.. men go into engineering and science and mathematics and technician jobs vs women going into teaching children, raising children, cleaning and cooking, things that are nurturing.

Are men and women more fit for those areas due to their differences in hormones and such? Probably I think so, but life isn't black and white in that is no reason to not encourage them, and if we encourage women more, maybe more will choose it instead of a degree in interior design or something and we may have a few more Curies and Rosalind Franklins and Randalls etc... I think. The way it is being done is probably not good though. Randall probably doesn't think about how she is a woman in such a male dominated field and probably is focusing too much on the work to care, so I think the audience these campaigns are reaching would probably not care anyway. I may be wrong and Randall thinks about it a whole lot. Who knows.

So correct me if I’m wrong but
>TLDR women need to be encouraged into STEM or they’ll just seem like breeders which doesn’t help the feminist narrative

Most people have no innate interest in science.

you're why radical feminists exist, calling women breeders when that's obviously not the case via the (few) women who have gone into science and mathematics with great contributions for humanity, so you're just a jerk that is making the problem worse. its antisocial behavior.

>> No.10349991

>>10349982
That’s cool, but feminists obviously don’t think it would be enough without encouraging girls into STEM.

Again: why? Is it really muh patriarchy or do women by and large not really have the innate interest that men do to explore, discover, and innovate? I just find this interesting, especially when there are more women in college than men. Why not encourage boys to go into STEM? Without making it about the color of their skin. Would that be sexist?

>> No.10349997

>>10349990
I’m just asking questions, bro. You’re why MGTOW faggots exist. Do you want to explain the measurable, observable push by feminists and the STEM field to get MORE girls (than are already interested and making their own initiative and will go to college and become a scientist regardless of what anyone thinks) involved in science or not?

Maybe I should have posted this on /his/, it’s really more of a sociology question.

I think there are innate interests given to a person based on their gender. Which attract them to different interests, but doesn't mean they will dislike other interests or fields. It would take encouragement or coincidence to bring someone who isn't naturally interested in logistical structures to those fields. Which means this really comes down to fair opportunity for kids who can easily learn fundamentals.

If you tell a kid they are good or capable at something, it becomes self-fulfilling prophecy as they invest more time in to it. Since you gave them the correct response which they then decide to invest more time in to the hobby.

It really should also be mentioned that you can't just bring someone in to STEM. The contextual training of the mind such that someone is experienced with logic-minded thought is the golden key to getting someone successful in a STEM field. We rarely acknowledge this and say that women are bad at code or math after never being in an environment where they can learn the fundamentals of logic systems, and then from that experience, perform better. More often than not they are just shoved in to a CS class in high-school and people are shocked and clueless to why they do poorly in general.

Two things which drive it:
1. High demand of STEM work

We're not really encouraging women though, are we? Because it isn't about making things fair or proper, it's about making things *feel* fair or proper. As it seems to me, nobody cares whether or not women actually go into STEM fields, they just want to feel like women are included in STEM fields (by making sure there are some nice looking statistics on it), and if the statistics don't look nice, if they don't signal to everybody "HEY LOOK, WE'RE DIVERSE" then obviously there's a systemic problem, and white men are to blame.

I hate this timeline. Being a woman (or some other group that feminists/progressives consider underprivileged) shouldn't be a qualification, it ought to not arbitrarily hold you back. It kills me inside to see.

STEM isn't anyone's "nature", there's nothing sexed about doing math or science. These subjects are gendered and the point is to degender them

In math institutes (at least the few I've been) the male/female ratio is trash. Since feminism sometimes forces stupid rules as "you need at least one female in your PhD final presentation/whatever the fuck it's called in English" the few women that are in institutes get invited over and over again to exams that don't belong to their fields of expertise.

I've seen some post PhD girls in those exams right next to researchers with careers the length of their ages. Yeah, ironically, it was women who pushed these stupid "gender equality" rules
