The Riemann Hypothesis wikipedia entry lists it as "non-technical" but the book's description tells of alternating chapters between the problem's history and explanations.

I was just wondering if anybody knew just how non-technical we're talking. Also the RH wikipedia page hasn't added any of this current hullabaloo of which is being discussed. Maybe they don't regard it as a valid attempt yet.

Motl is arguably a douche but almost always correct when it comes to math/physics, so I would take his analysis very seriously

this whole thread was kinda weird to read because of two things:
honestly i think he just took a leap of faith much like how fermat did with his a^n + b^n != c^n for n>3 theorem, we'll need a few more papers before we can finally dunk that dunce hat and call him retarded, much of mathematics modern and future foundations and based on ideas that have been floating around for centuries until some aspie IQuberchad comes along, introduces something completely different from different branches of mathematics and ties it all together. In the end i think researchers and undergrads are going to play around with the todd function and maybe draw a clearer roadmap of solving or disproving RH. Obviously from reading this paper he wasn't very clear on definitions and maybe there is a technicality or two that may make the paper easier to disprove due to the classic "lmao ur old" argument

i respected my fathers wish to finish it but i really didn't give a fuck about it, i went to parties, fucked around and finished all classes with bare minimum grades
i tried explaining this to people who were serious about academics. Arguments really are weaker than some "hicks" perception from small towns or low class places who arent really familiar how things truly work in academics. When i was in Boston i heard a guy use an insult that went something like "what are you? a professor? go fuck your self". If you wanna learn about science do it online, if you wanna discuss science do it on forums or irc chatrooms, make your own discoveries and publish them on arxiv or where ever, but most importantly if you truly are serious about the pure aspects of science make sure you have a couple of high IQ friends who are into that feild so they can fact check you and shit

K-theory is a cohomology theory, which means (amongst many other things) we have a group K^i (X) for each i.
