Is programming completely saturated now? My brother is 22 and thinking about going to school for it. I'm thinking the market has fucked all the new students because they pushed such a shortage of programmers, all the kids went to school to learn, now that market has such an abundance of candidates it wants you to have 7 years experience and be able to have 3 stacks under your belt but in term pays 40k to start if you can even find a job.

How many others have been offset in life by loans and admission technicalities? I'm behind about 7 years because of them and am approaching 30. There isn't much recourse if you are poor and cannot obtain private loans, and being in default at times prevents reapplication with FAFSA. I would have never had this protracted of a process if a few prereqs would have been overlooked. I've since recovered from my poverty but even then, private loans and so on require a cosigner and that's just for the prereqs alone. Sure there are a few schools where they are not required but I've done the calculations. I could not afford relocation. It seems deliberately structured to screw people over who have either had a rough patch in life or decided to become a physician at a much later point.

As a mathematician I respect engineers for accepting they want a job without too much stress.

I study mathematics at university and while I'm doing very well in almost every area, I just don't understand proofs and I'm starting to think they can't just be learned like everything else.

It actually isn't that cold because you are comparing two different things. The thermal conductivity of a vacuum is extremely limited if not totally absent compared to matter conductivity (itself contingent on medium, state of matter, pressure, etc). If you were ejected into space around earth without anything on, it would not be immediately cold, even in the absence of sun at minus 250. If you were surrounded by pressurized air at that temperature, you would nearly immediately freeze to death. You will die of hypoxia before "the cold" will kill you in space.
