Why is so much “Starship News” on YouTube just clickbait?

UR-700 is cool, but seeing as the much simpler proton was exploding left and right, I highly doubt it would have worked.
The USSR should’ve just picked either the N1 or the UR-700 back in 1963 when the US said they’d go to the moon. The N1 started work in 1965 and flew first in 1969. They could’ve had it flying two years earlier if they actually gave a shit.

You can "cheat" at asparagus staging by having one set of tanks fuelling engines, and another set to refuel the next stage. But I guess you still have to pump it through so idk

At least the rocket you love is real. Mine is only real in my dreams

I hate that the N1 became the Soviet choice of Moon rocket. The UR-700 seemed the better if more insane choice.

Crossfeeding's only impractical if you're trying to feed the core engines and the booster engines from the same tanks. The way it would've worked on the UR-700 was with basically separate drop tanks on top of the boosters that only fed into the core

Could this be achieved using Methalox and with reusable stages, as well as the intended crossfeeding of propellants?

Then to up the UR-700, the USSR would then build the UR-700A which could carry up to 250 tons (predicted). Following that, an even more massive UR-700M for what I guess was for a Mars shot and could lift 750 tons into space.

Honestly so mad we never got this.

I still wish the UR-700 or the nuclear variant flew. Even if it was a crazy design.

Think the biggest variant was the Vulkan-Hercules, capable of lifting 175 tonnes into orbit. If you want to be sad about something, the UR-700M apparently capable of lifting either 250 tons or 750 tons.
