Does anybody else notice a problem when it comes to academia/scientific publications? The longer I work in academia (I'm a post-doc looking to gtfo) the more I realize it's corrupted for a couple of reasons. Here are some reasons:

1. Journals don't let us publish negative results, which results in an incentive for people to skew results to get "positive" results

2. The cutting of funding for research outside of medical science has forced people to lie about their results to get funding for more research

3. You have shit sites like retractionwatch dot org, which essentially shame anyone who makes a mistake when publishing (and what study is 100% perfect?) and so you now have an incentive not to report any mistake you've made of fear of having your name on that website.

4. There are too many damn journals, which can be attributed to the "Publish or Perish" mentality which academics are forced to be involved in, which is shit. "Publish or Perish" is a horrible mindset which doesn't encourage honest research, which can lead to "interpret/skew data anyway you can so you can get a publication"
