LFTR fuel production takes CO2 out of the sky to make the fuels. You can cut down on other types of pollution too.
>a limitless source of safe energy
LFTRs until space-based solar

You realize that it would likely be some kind of interstellar species test, to see if your planet is run by pieces of shit?

Astronomers Can Tune in to Radio Auroras to Find Exoplanets
----------------------
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/04/110418084007.htm
>Detecting exoplanets that orbit at large distances from their star remains a challenge for planet hunters. Now, scientists at the University of Leicester have shown that emissions from the radio aurora of planets like Jupiter should be detectable by radio telescopes such as LOFAR, which will be completed later this year.

See how the Milk Way looks from earth? Solar system is actually askew to the normal orbital plane of the Milky Way, if you would think of it like a spinning plate.

But really, it's space, so it doesn't mean anything.

TL;DR: there is no directionality in space
