A quick wikipedia search says that it came from comets hitting the moon, and from chemical reactions happening on the moon.

That same search says "no" actually. Saturn's magnetic field is bombarding the upper atmosphere of Titan, exciting it and making it more likely to escape. Titan is losing it's atmosphere thanks to Saturn.
