I'm doubtful that all of aging could be cured. That said, there are certain specific areas we should work on, namely muscle, bone, and joint weaknesses, and dementias. If we could fix these alone, it would improve many people's quality of life. The rest of the body (IMO) doesn't matter as much.

I've been diagnosed with Thanatophobia, basically a reoccurring fear of dying that never leaves my thoughts, but last month I read about the Aubrey De Grey's SENS project and 3 years of anxiety, shortness of breath, sleepless nights and existential terror in what would otherwise be my normal life have finally subsided but in your opinion /sci/ how REAL is this? The idea that human life can be extended? Is it really attainable in our lifetimes?

I've decided on a quest that I'm going to dedicate my life to. EVERLASTING LIFE. Yes, longevity. Not immortal (that's impossible) but certainly very, very long life. Like 2000+ years.

Currently I'm a biochemistry major. I'm going to add on Computer Science.

So what does /sci/ think of my goal?

too many homework and troll threads, lets clear things up by discussing something relevant to science, namely Aubrey deGray's glorious beard.
Just look at it!

Aubrey de grey for the motherfucking win.

He gives talks constantly to try and bring attention to aging and how we should focus on it. I think in a few years this idea will become common knowledge. Once humanity realizes it can defeat aging, everything will change. People won't want to die anymore, security will be ridiculous, and investments into regenerative medicine will skyrocket.

Hey /sci/

I was just watching something about Aubrey De Grey earlier and it struck me how close we are to perhaps developing a cure for aging.

What does /sci/ think about Aubrey's proposed method of doing this?
