Moon has less mass, so the dust (and everything else) accelerated towards the surface slower. This is very visible in the Apollo footage.

It's a pretty out-there concept, but i'd love to see a proof of concept someday. hopefully with starship we'll have more experimental projects like this see the light of day.

How thick is the dust layer on the moon?
Could they think they've chosen a more or less level surface to land on only to find out it's in a mini-crater?
