I can't blame you, the media doing "biggest rocket ever" all the time shits me too. I wish we had of just done the Saturn MLVs.

The Falcon 1 was nothing special, the Falcon 9 is the best medium LV, the Falcon Heavy would be good if it had a fairing big enough for it's mass capability.
This is what they have done in 20 years, I'm not saying that's bad but it's also not as amazing as people like to act. NASA went from the X-15 to Apollo 11 in the same timeframe.

Reminder that the first orbital Kerosene upper stage in the US flew after 1965 was on Falcon 1 flight 1. The US just used hypergolics, solids, or hydrogen for their upper stage. Seriously. The exception is the Titan I, which was kerosene unlike its hypergolic descendants, and it flew from 1959 to 1961

Same anon, while it was ultimately a pork barreling project and the Saturn MLV would have been orders of magnitude better I still respect the engineers for getting something so retarded to fly.

a stretched 2-stage saturn v with shuttle-diameter solids would've absolutely happened in the 70s too if nasa went forward with their post-apollo plans too. it would've been cheap and quick to develop and it would've doubled the LEO payload.

The shuttle is much more controversial than Starship because it killed several great programs with the promise of cheap LEO and ended up costing more while being less capable.

Remember what they actually took rather than the shittle dregs you posted.
This would have made the Saturn much cheaper while putting a shitload into LEO and maintaining Lunar capability.

If he gave a fuck he would have something to compete with Falcon 1 by now given Blue Origin is older than SpaceX.

imagine if instead of shit launch cistern they went ahead and used these to fly
a 'saturn v mark ii', made far cheaper and capable of carrying much more to orbit by way of
modern production capabilities and the aid of CAD
would be so fucking kino
