Falling for the Tesla meme results in ignorance of the greater danger posed by AC sources (Edison was right), leading to carelessness around AC sources, and ultimately to serious injury or death from them.

He's unaware that AC also has a "no let go" threshold current, and that it's much lower than the DC threshold current.
