do ADHDtards really have to take this forever?
i've heard that 90% of people with ADHD just have some sort of nutritional deficit, either due to poor diet or some sort of genetic metabolism issue
why not just take nutritional supplements?

look at this and tell me science is real
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18054688/

>kids with "ADHD" have higher rates of iron deficiency
>treat kids with iron supplements
>"ADHD" goes away

do you not see the problem? the author knows these kids have iron deficiencies and ADHD-like symptoms, but fails to realize that maybe they don't have ADHD and maybe they just have iron deficiencies
regardless, the author suggests ALL kids, with or without low iron levels, take iron tablets to reduce ADHD
do you guys see the issue? the kids in the study had iron deficiencies, not ADHD. the author just does not care, apparently, and wants kids with normal iron levels to take iron anyways
how do people like this get published?
is science just a joke?

a thread to discuss the causes and cures for mental slowness

i'll start
why am i retarded? i supposedly have an iq of 128, but i am still practically retarded. i cannot think straight and i am usually tired. i thought i had adhd so i started taking 20 mg of adderall a day, but i still sometimes feel fatigued enough to sleep while on it. i thought, then, that i might have obstructive sleep apnea because i also have hypertension. however, i have just found out that i don't snore at all. what could be the cause of my retardation?
are any of you guys also retarded despite and above-average iq?
what gives?

How much does adderall or other ADHD medications improve performance on IQ tests for people with ADHD? I have ADHD and scored much higher on performance IQ after treatment, do you think this increase in score is due to better performance on subtests that measure focus and processing speed? or does the cognitive boost you get from stimulants apply to all cognitive domains?

Lemme get down to brass tacks, /sci/- is there any conclusive evidence that prescription amphetamines actually lead to severe and debilitating neurotoxicity? I have read and heard a lot of different things, but it seems like people have ultimately made the use and abuse of these drugs more of a moral issue rather than one with genuinely harmful repercussions.

Under what circumstances does the drug go from being therapeutic to being entirely harmful?

Why is aderall use so prevelent in STEM?
I know people that take that shit just to go to work.
I personally have all my "symptoms" of ADD, and sure I have middling grades but I'm fine with that. I don't see a reason to "excel" if it's not really you doing it, but the drug.
Can someone explain this?

How can I focus and organize myself without ritalin? I'm not diagnosed ADHD but it takes me ages to do things, I'm always forgetful and I can't focus. I got 10 pills of ritalin (non-prescription) and it literally fixed all my problems, albeit only for 4 hours or so, and raised my mood 24/7 because at least I was getting some stuff done when I'd be on it, even though I'd only take 1 every second day. Problem is buying these non-prescription would be incredibly expensive.

Are there any other magic cures for being a shit person? I obviously didn't believe in wonder drugs that just fix you - I've tried half the meme supplements people shill online, I've been on 3 anti-depressants - but this definitely did a complete 180 on my cognitive issues.

At this point any hope of changing my personality is out the window. You don't know how bad things are, and I've tried (and am still trying) the usual meme advice like running every day, eating healthy, planning out my day, etc.

Pic not related. Adderall isn't even available in Europe. Just wanted to bait addy-fags into thread since there's so many of them.

>Eat mostly healthy
>Exercise
>Take fish oil
>Drink lots of water
>Black coffee in the morning
>Get good sleep

And yeah I can't focus or get motivated to do anything, even things I love. I can't study, write, play video games, etc. The only thing that seems fun is doing something active like playing basketball or something.

About 5 years ago I was diagnosed with ADHD and given Adderall, which worked wonders. I had to stop taking it for reasons, but now I'm able to go back on it. The only problem is, I looked up the doctor that prescribed it to me years ago and he has bad reviews (overall 2/5 stars). Should I be worried? What if he prescribed it to me just for the heck of it? He originally put me on Strattera but it didn't work, then changed it to Adderall. Without it, I don't know what to do with myself, but I'm still a little worried.

Hey /sci/.

I'm starting a new degree and I need something to help me study. In the past I used rc similar to adderall, but now I don't want to go to that route anymore cause it's just not worth it.
Is there anything useful out there? What about racetams? I've tried modafinil but it doesn't work really well, it just gives me some jitters and that's it. Caffeine used to work, now it's almost useless.

if a person were to be in a very cold environment for a long time, poorly prepared for the temperature, would adderall make it less or more likely for hypothermia or freezing to death? would it be painful overall or in extremities like hands/feet? is there a drug that can be taken to make it less painful to be in the cold? i already know about alcohol, but being drunk isn't an option

Is there really any reason not to be taking ADHD type stimulant drugs to increase your cognitive ability? In therapeutic dosages, they improve cognitive and executive function markedly with negligible side effects and make it easier to retain information you learn. I see no reason why the average adult shouldn't be taking them to make themselves the best they can possibly be.

So I was pouring hydrogen peroxide on my carpet to lighten a stain and I noticed it's creating some white bubble reactions on specific areas on it. It's reacting with SOMETHING but what could it be?

Mold?

It only happens in this one area, so it's not the entire carpet. I've been pouring it on it for a couple weeks now but it doesn't seem to stop reacting, so whatever it is the hydrogen peroxide isn't getting rid of it.

What is it and what do?

(This is /sci/ related because chemistry and potentially biology)
