Suppose a soccer player kicks the ball from a distance 30 m toward
the goal. Find the initial speed of the ball if it just passes over the goal,
2.4 m above the ground, given the initial direction to be 40º above the
horizontal.

Tell me this problem is impossible. Something is clearly wrong no? I've worked it out about 5 different ways, and something just isnt coming out right. I think there is an excess of information given or something.

Answer: 25%

The second outcome is dependant on the first.

Even though it says the first is heads, its probability was 0.5, and the second is still 0.5.

0.5 * 0.5 = 0.25

Quick question because you guys are smart. Website needs answer to question to register. I'm shit at math.

What is the sum of 62? I thought it was just 62, but apparently it's not. Yeah, I'm probably retarded. Haven't taken a math class since first semester freshman year of college.

This is complete rubbish, OP. You can't prove something incurable simply because statistics of individual attempts at remedies show a trend toward regaining weight. It is well known that losing weight is something profoundly affected by INDIVIDUAL effort, willpower, and physiology.

While it is true to some extent that after a significant weight loss, the body WILL be more inclined to store fat, this in no way means that losing weight in a more permanent sense is impossible. I agree, this trend is why most diets fail as long-term solutions, and that fat people often regain their lost weight as a result of this phenomenon. However, my theory is that the main reason they can't stay "cured" is that they continue to lead unhealthy lifestyles that got them fat in the first place. OBVIOUSLY, (assuming these are NOT cases of ACTUAL gland disorders) if these people lacked the will to not overeat to begin with, they will generally tend toward lacking the will to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.

Gentlemen, I come to you in an hour of need.

Having done badly in college algebra once already, I find myself trying again, but yet again I am saddled with an incompetent, thick-accented teacher who can barely go five minutes without making a basic addition or subtraction error when writing notes.

The problem in question is thusly.

2x^4-6x^2+4x

we are to express polynomials as product of linear factors using complex numbers and as a product of linear and quadratic factors with real coefficients.

How the hell do you do this?

Why do aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and other over-the-counter pain relievers... not work?

I mean, seriously. This shit does nothing, even for headaches, let alone other pains. And yet, despite the fact that they do jack shit, if you downed a bottle of them, they'd kill you. What's the point of even selling this shit?

Does /sci/ have any specific places they go when looking for textbooks online? I'm out of options and not willing to spend ~$400 this semester.
