It's not just an Apollo capsule. It's on top of a cargo fairing (like some of the Jupiter rocket concepts). But the size difference is pretty funny though.

oh, they've thought about it before

nobody has done it because the bigger a rocket is, the more expensive it is to build and test it. Plus no normal missions require that much oomph.

By that metric, the cheapest launch system ever designed was the Sea Dragon. 500 tons to orbit, baby! I wonder why nobody ever built it?

I don't care if FH gets delayed forever, since only the NRO needs that class of heavy payload.

you think that's big? I'm sad no shipbuilder ever attempted the Sea Dragon. 175m from stem to stern, taking 500 tons to orbit.
