How the hell does regression to the mean work in genetics? Will an offspring's iq be the average of its parents or the midpoint parental iq z-score times narrow-scale variability?

Could it be that we actually live in a dark matter universe with dark stars/galaxies/life and actually we are the aberration? Since our matter and dark matter only interact through gravity, it seems that we could be mere freaks of nature surrounded by a universe we can never experience. Perhaps the dark matter universe even consists of entire communities of living species enjoying their life blissfully unaware of our existence
