Taking this long meant that SpaceX needed its contract expanded with more crew missions because it had already been doing double missions to fill the hole caused by Shitliner. Now there's two crew vehicles docked all the time, only they're both SpaceX, and a cargo vehicle too.

Astronauts like to know that they'll fly someday in the next two years or so. Going on Boeing is like an anti-bonus.
