I don't think this will work. Most successful intellectuals are 100% internally motivated -- see Graham's bus ticket theory of genius.

People often wonder why Newton had an interest in Theology and Alchemy on top of Physics. I believe it's because for Newton, all three of these disciplines scratched a similar itch. He wasn't born a lover of Physics per se -- Physics was just a means of satisfying the deeper intellectual drive.

To be an intellectual, your brain needs the ability to release a fuck-ton of dopamine when you have certain thoughts. What triggers this dopamine release (AKA your passion) is beyond your control, but once you understand how it's triggered, you can plan around it. This is where successful people find their motivation. Relying on external sources is never going to work. You need to find that divine spark of enthusiasm from within. Determine what really excites you about learning, and make a beeline for it.

it's not being superior intellectualy which makes the difference in the long term.
It's being superior financially.

There are genius children in work camps right now who will never accomplish anything lasting because they don't have the financial resources and societal freedoms to do so.

People who complain about CC math are people who don't understand math and basically treated it in school as a memorization class

Is CC math fast and simple? no and no
and that's the way it should be to LEARN the fundamentals of math and build a stable foundation for harder math

Once you understand, memorizing simple shortcuts is meaningless

Suppose, as an exercise in logic to distract me from studying for exams tomorrow, that someone implanted a pacemaker, electronically connected and controlled, so that at a push of a button, the subject's heart rate would be jumped from 70 BPM to 110 BPM. This would be someone in a critical situation. From what I've heard about people who have pacemakers in old age, it just feels like a sudden energy boost.

So, I would think, if a certain event were triggered but someone were desensitized to it, their performance could be enhanced by the heart rate of a body being raised immensely.
Yes, you'd have to train your heart in order for it to be able to handle the spike in demand, but I think this could be possible for a biomedical augmentation of one's own body.

Thoughts?

I am an undergrad (finished 3rd year electrical eng.) and I want to be a part of someone's research. What should I say, which questions should I expect ("which subjects interest you" could be one thing for example, what else)

Generally, I think you would often be driven to a specialty related to your PhD due to pure inertia. But if you're aware of this, you can resist it and make a conscious choice to remain in the same field, or change your field. Obviously staying in your comfort zone will be easier, but that doesn't mean it's the only option

For my master's program (Economics), I'm required to take Statistics I and Calculus I as a pre-req. The math itself doesn't seem overly difficult, and I want to learn it, but I took the easy way out and avoided math courses while doing my undergrad and got a social science degree.

My question is, should I study to take an exam and just bypass these reqs? Should I take all these classes to lead up to it? Can I bullshit my way by reading books, practicing, and Khan Academy shit? I want to learn the material, and take these pre-reqs but I really dread have to take all these classes that lead up to it because I just don't have the time.

when a 3rd gender is created, where does that set the new line on to many genders?

could we ever have 5, or 20, or 600 genders all intermingling orb of genderqueer sex and procreation?
