and ever since, Garrett has been saying lots of really contrived nonsense to try and make it plausible in light of the debunkage, but all of it is grasping at straws which make whatever he claims is still viable absolutely not "exceptionally simple" any more, in fact what he says now is extremely ugly and bending-over-backwards

i mean, Garrett is cool, but his theory of everything was debunked right after his (admittely pretty good) TED talk, because it mathematically can't work to have three generations of chiral leptons, and yet he keeps trying to make his theory work by doing more and more handstands and ugly kludges even though at the beginning he wanted to call it "the exceptionally simple theory of everything" or whatever. clearly he fucked up at physics, didn't notice his error, published it and got famous, then got debunked, but he's trying desperately to undebunk himself because he makes money off it somehow, when really it's pathetic and he should have been a bro and been like "my bad, model was wrong, peace"

so I read "Lost In Math" by Sabine Hossenfelder, and she devoted an entire chapter to Garrett Lisi. and his meme ToE that got debunked years before Sabine's anti-science book.

Anyhow, i looked up Garrett's thesis, and it turns out he is a biophysics idiot. his thesis was on fucking dolphins.

literally, the ToE that hosstardfelder wrote a chapter on comes from an unemployed dude who wrote his thesis on dolphin hydrodynamics. i shit you not.
