Truth be told: there hasn't been any real progress in the field of Physics for 50 years now.

We have discovered a lot but all of them are just confirmations of theories made 50 years ago. We are currently in the exact same slump in the 1900's and for all we know, there may not be another revolution like the Quantum world ever again. Or at least not in a few generations more

Transistors have reached 20nm.
Once it reached 1nm, the progress of technology would instantly platue as that is its physical limit - any further would make it too fragile.

We would probably see the zenith of the golden age of communication
