/sci/, how far did you get into the Langomania program before you lost interest and fell back into your old habits?
Be honest. I'd like to get a sense of my quitter quotient.

Ok I'm gonna save this thread, OP.
I'm learning mathematics on my own, please post text books that are helpful. Do you think examples or answers are more important, for example I'm having trouble with this problem >>15980294
is knowing the answer better or is looking at examples better for getting through the problem?

>be me reading textbook
>understand concepts with little effort
>No difficulty with example exercises, usually do them without having to read demonstration
>get to end of chapter exercises
>am too fucking retarded to do all exercises, have to turn to solutions for at least one every time

What the fuck. Every time I find a good textbook I get filtered by at least one of the exercises per section.

Suppose that I mathmaxxed in high school and received the same knowledge as an undergrad in pure math. Would there be a test I could take that would qualify me for a grad program without doing the undergrad 4 years?

Thanks in advance. Picrel is not what I studied

I unironically used this chart like 6 years ago. I used all the books from "a beginning" to "a journey", and then moved on to better stuff. It was pretty mediocre pedagogy, and I think you'd be better off just reading lang. Lang is the king of pedagogy.

>ALSO WOULD A CHINESE ABUCUS AT LEAST USING IT 5 - 4 HOURS A DAY Help mental Calculation
Japanese soroban,

There's a book called the japanese abacus and its use that's fine. The goal is to be like these kids where you can do it in your head:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px_hvzYS3_Y

Look into it. It's called "mental soroban".

Lang for the other stuff you asked.

This is a good list if you start at the linear algebra book. I know because I tried that list, unironically. In retrospect, pic-related is so much better pedagogically.

>What's a good book that teaches single-variable calculus, linear algebra, and multi-variable calculus in a one-stop solution?
It's fucking Lang. Read Lang's calculus, it's awesome. Then read Lang's multi-variable calculus, which you can jump right into if you like. These are short books, they say everything, and they are pedagogically beyond reproach.

You have to first construct 0, and 1 and the operations defined on them, the relation distinguishing 0 and 1 follows immediately. Use the peano axioms or something. "0" is some object in the set we call N, and "1" is succ(0), and we can prove these are different objects with different properties, and so on.
When all else fails, read Lang, try his basic mathematics book.
