>What properties could a solid material have if it is the case?

Electron-phonon coupling refers to the interaction between the lattice vibrations (phonons) and electrons in a material. This interaction plays a crucial role in various physical phenomena, and if the electron-phonon coupling in certain flat bands is large, it could lead to a number of interesting properties:

Superconductivity: The most well-known effect of strong electron-phonon coupling is superconductivity. The BCS theory (Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theory) of superconductivity suggests that a large electron-phonon coupling could facilitate the formation of Cooper pairs – pairs of electrons with opposite momentum and spin that move coherently and enable superconductivity.

Enhanced Thermoelectric Efficiency: Strong electron-phonon coupling could lead to enhanced thermoelectric efficiency, as it can promote phonon scattering, thereby reducing the lattice thermal conductivity. This is beneficial for thermoelectric materials, as they seek to maximize electrical conductivity while minimizing thermal conductivity.

Polaronic Effects: A strong electron-phonon coupling might result in the formation of polarons, quasiparticles formed by an electron and its associated polarization field. Polarons can significantly affect the electrical and optical properties of a material.

Charge Density Waves: Materials with strong electron-phonon coupling can also exhibit charge density waves (CDW), periodic modulations of the electron density in the solid, leading to insulating behavior and a variety of other electronic properties.

Phononic Devices: With a strong coupling, it might be possible to control the flow of phonons in a material, opening the possibility for phononic devices.
