Underagefag here.

I need to prove Thales theorem (Intercept theorem) and I can't wrap my head around it. Could someone help or at least clarify how to do claim 1 of the proof ?

Wolfram Alpha says mercury's average distance from earth is 1.04 AU. Since mean distance between the sun and the earh is 1 AU.

Does that mean that on average, the sun is closer to the earth then mercury?
