What’s the point of reading Roman literature? It’s all just a knock off of superior Greek literature.

Can one be a philosopher focusing exclusively on the Classics? or do you need to at least read everything else (even if not an expert)?
I just cannot read anything modern, especially XX century. It's like a gag reflex
Classic philosophy is so harmonious and simple compared to modern philosophy. Latin and Greek languages are so beautiful as well

But if he is supposed to start with Plato for ethics and Plato's metaphysics is superior in every way to Christian metaphysics then why would he ever move on to the Christians?

You're not saving his Christianity. You're more likely to find him on-top of a mountain pouring libations to the rising Sun and carving intricate idols of holy gods if you keep recommending divine Plato like this.

Plato, Aristotle and Socrates were all polytheists and there is absolutely nothing Christians can do about that fact.

Also read Plotinus and Proclus.
