I'm a huge proponent of all four books, to be honest. The ending of the fourth alone carries the low-points.

liked the first book had nice atmosphere of mystery about many of its characters and situations.
then read the secodn book - it answered a lot of the questions about stuff in the first book. Answers were trite and annoying - hated it. Ruined the first book also - wish I'd only read the first one. HAve not touched the next one.
