like some mimic of borges' pierre menard, i in my late teens set about to read everything borges had read in an attempt to create for myself a mind capable of writing his collected fictions. and now like the immortal marcus flaminius rufus i find my ego transcended, borges' collected fictions already having been written by myself in a manner. all literary ambition besides that of reading dissipated. what is to be written will be. it doesn't matter through who the force of literature is channeled.
