I like Prof. Peterson as much as the next guy but maybe you should check the catalog to see if they are any threads up about this content before making a new thread.

Partly. He strikes at the core of a number of ideas that I've been floating recently. Mostly that the increased freedom of women has done a real number on society. Instead of approaching the problem of changing gender roles with maturity and rationality, we're fragmenting ourselves arguing with each other and gender relationships are now boiling down to just the basest urges.

It's a serious problem. If we continue to blindly march down the route of women doing the two-fold job of both primary divine mother and primary divine individual, we're at risk of at best females tearing themselves apart and men considered subhumans for being incapable of taking both jobs despite the fact that systematically no one will give the mothering role to us.

Looking at a recent treasury report in my country, it still reports that women are average net zero (it shocked me) on economic benefit after accounting for social benefits, education, healthcare etc. Most of our systems aren't built for women taking the primary earning role and frankly, the way this is going, it could be that women are what or may already be eating our GDP and productivity figures.

The worst outcome is probably that women choose to abandon their mothering role entirely, either leaving emotionally stunted men to upbringing or the world chooses to stop reproducing altogether.

If we ever made it to artificial wombs, the scary part is that I think we would lose our children. They would no longer be bound to us like they are now.

It's a pretty big assumption to make unless anyone has evidence. Probably just stress that's making him look that way.
