China bros

Im looking to pick up my Chinese skills. Ive been reading these texts with their ping yin on top as aid. Id really want something like the condor heros since i just watched 神雕侠侣 2006 version. But i think my skills are too low for that, so any recommendations for wuxia genre with a beautiful warm love story weaved in? Thanks!

it's called pinyin, not pingying or ping yin.
Why don't you read on a pc?
You can get browser plug-ins to display translations when you move your cursor over a character.
I don't know anything about wuxia, so I can't help you there.

I went to school in china until gr 3 and then studied in canada until now (2nd year uni) during that time i only spoke with my family and read and wrote very little chinese. Now im looking to pick it up again cause chinese lit is just fantastic, the prose imo is much better than english prose (that ive read so far) so im looking to improve it.

Chinese is one of the only ancient civilizations that still retains its culture and art while still being reverent in todays world. In other words, China got it right, despite it going through shit in the past century its getting back into relevance as the "middle kingdom" again.

But lets not turn this into pol tier, the reason im reading chinese is because
1. I find the language very beautiful in creating poetry, its monosyllabic characters imo suite the rhyme structure much better than english.
2. I am fascinated chinese stories after being amazed by their dramas which incorporate such amazing prose and beautiful story into one. I cant say the same of western dramas, tho breaking bad was pretty good.
3. Im chinese and feel chinese language and people give me a sense of belonging. I feel like i belong to this culture and its people.

I could go on but u get my point.
>also my secret obsession with this xiao long nu character...

No idea. But I'm also reading Chinese books (modern) and I bought a lot in Beijing and Taipei. I also downloaded a lot of Chinese book PDFs. I'm hoping to start working in China soon.

Ive just started so im not too familiar with too much. But the books in ops first pic (me) is like collection of short stories that tell a point and concluding on a 成语。if u can, id go to china town and ask for chinese grade 1 or 2 literature class books, or books that have pinyin along so it can help u out.

For chinese lit i heard that the condor heros series are pretty famous, also san mao is a famous author check her out.

Also here is the chart. Srry im still a pleb at this tho id love to get into it more

Try a compilation of early 20th century short stories- Lu Xun, Eileen Chang/Zhang Ailing, Shen Congwen, Lao She, those kind of people.
