Look at university like a four-year gym membership to a real gym hidden within a much larger fake gym, and the much larger fake gym's purpose is to entice and trick you into thinking that you've found the real gym and that you're actually getting fit, but really all you're doing is Crossfit bullshit in some wing of the fake gym with a bunch of retards, so that when you emerge after 4 years you aren't even sure you really did anything

University is like a fucking gauntlet designed to do everything it can to make you jerk off for its entire duration and learn nothing, while plastering #1 NIETZSCHE LEARNER GUY stickers to your stupid face because you took a class that summarized 37 pages of Nietzsche you half-read right before class

Look at it more like a four-year library membership, and as a responsibility to go from being a dipshit teenager to a precocious junior scholar (whether you want to go to grad school afterward or not), treat it like a hard-ass day job with long hours, look at your classes as distractions, at worst and conveniently lined up with shit you already intend to read at best, and you will avoid the trap that gets almost ALL undergraduates, even the smart people

It's not like 50/50. Every fucking person at university is wasting it. All the star students are stars at fake gym nothing nonsense bullshit. Don't be fooled. Go look up how people used to study before university was turned into a daycare, go find some 70 year old guy who did his PhD in Yugoslavia before rocks were invented and realize he did a 200-page BA thesis in 3 years while you take 5 fucking years to find your own dick and figure out how to use JSTOR

Do not get into fights or arguments. Never let yourself get hit in the face. Do not hit anyone in the face. A bent or broken nose is a horrifying thing to live with every day. You can't fix your nose by hand. You need to have an expensive operation that might not work. In the meantime you could have a blocked nostril permanently so you can forget about doing something athletic and you can start frequently yawning to get more oxygen.

Not everyone wants to be a scholar.

Cars slide out of control and into curbs even at slow speeds when you try to brake and there is snow, ice, or slush.

If a cop catches you doing something do not keep doing it. Stopping immediately admits you are guilty but if you continue to do what you were doing then they must pull you over. I've never met a cop who bent the rules. They are always very dutiful and they will treat minor crimes harshly and they will treat suspicious behavior or nearly criminal behavior harshly too. Don't converse with or argue with a cop. They only want you to comply. Talking will not convince them. Also, for some reason cops always want you to pull over on the edge of the road right next to you even if there is no edge of the road and you block an entire lane of a highway. They consider moving down the road for a better spot running away.

When I first got tinnitus I thought it was a rare occurrence. Ears are actually very fragile and my advice is keep the volume a little lower, get a quiet computer, and the moment something in your life seems to be hurting your ears just stop using it. Don't put up with it until you get a replacement. Once your ears become damaged enough they will be extra vulnerable and you will need an even quieter life with ear protection at the ready. Specifically avoid buying an ASUS chromebox since it has a deceptively dangerous fan.

Be really careful about what you say in a funeral speech since you are talking about someone all those people care about and you probably won't see many of them again.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual[b] worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world,[c] but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.[d]

3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. 6 We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; 7 ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; 8 the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.

9 Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; 10 love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord.[e] 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly;[f] do not claim to be wiser than you are. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. 18 If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God;[g] for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 No, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

1) Sign up to a proper 6-12 week fitness programme with a personal trainer, and follow it to the letter (including diet plan/etc). I say this because 99% of the time, even when people watch shitty Youtube videos/etc, they don't know what they're doing and then give up. Thereafter, attend the gym regularly throughout the rest of your life. Not only will this help with girls in general, but also your daily life. Hard to underestimate the benefits of strength/stamina/etc.

2) Following on from #1, become a teetotaller for 99% of your life. Make exceptions for special events when it comes to alcohol. Only drink caffeinated coffee when you really have to - go for decaffeinated otherwise. Etc.

3) Set yourself limits. Most people try to read too much/do too much/etc, and then end up accomplishing nothing.

4) Force yourself to become politically apathetic at all costs. Avoid any debates about religion or philosophy, even among close friends - they will end up being a net loss, to the atmosphere if nothing else.

5) Pursue philosophy at any cost, but do so independently. Be an autodidact.

6) Embody the 4 cardinal virtues throughout your life: Honesty, with yourself and with whatever is a friend to you; courageous toward the enemy; generous toward the vanquished; polite always.

7) You can never be too accommodating when it comes to the people you encounter in daily life. Life becomes a lot more bearable when you forgive people their stupidity and plebeian nature.

8) Travel, but don't be arrogant about it. Genuinely try to learn from it. I wish there was a specific word for the sense of arrogance and pseudo-culture people have when they've just returned from some exotic destination. Don't be one of those people.

Knowing what duty and conscience require, and not acting upon them, must necessarily render a man unhappy, both with himself and with the universe. He would not be more unhappy after doing his duty than after avoiding it. Indecision is dissolution, weakness and misery. In the face of such internal conflict one has two choices: To bend his personality to his conscience, or to bend his conscience to his personality. The conscience is veritas, the spark of the divine in man, and personality a mere subjective phantom. To bend the personality is simply the shifting of shadows, while to bend the conscience is to destroy the real. Some men, in order to resolve the conflict, choose to shape the conscience according to the personality; the good and true become corrupted and destroyed for the sake of empty shadows. Others shape the personality to the conscience; the good and true are affirmed and consecrated, and the shadows are dispersed. The former are broken abominations, and the latter true to their nature.

-Don't avoid what makes you less sad anxious or angry, pursue what makes you feel genuinely happy.
-Be ready for anything. Learn as much practical things as you can; personal defense, electricity, plumbering, etc.
Keep your body and mind sharp. Don't allow to be taken by surprise.
-If you have chances to live a new experience, take them.
-Smalltalk is good. Try to talk to as many people as you can, store clerks, taxi drivers, etc. You may not like it, but if you see it from a practical point of view, appealing to people's good side and surrounding yourself with people thay found you likeable is extremely useful. Charity ("This round's on me", "I'll pay the cab", you get the drill) can be very effcient to achieve confidence from others. You never know when you'll need help from others. Plus, reputation from being a good natured or charismatic guys can be useful too.
-Express yourself by writing or painting. Hidden emotions can come out unexpected one day, and you won't like it when that happens. I keep my texts cryptical so I can talk about whatever I want without feeling shame or exposing dark secrets to others.
-Stand up for what you think is right. Don't let you or people you love being pushed around, nor you have to follow every order blindly.
-Attempt to generate a constant crisis in your way of thinking. Always find flaws, logical fallacies, hidden meanings or things that make no sense in your philosophy. Don't take anything for granted, research and reason with yourself or others.
-Happiness is personal and subjective. You must achieve it by yourself, no one can help you, sadly.
-Deattach yourself from other people and material things. Sure, having cool things and loving your family is good, but clinging to them as if they are the only thing that exist is unhealthy. You'll have to cope with their loss.

I sort of disagree with your point on depression. There has been some interesting new research on Depression that points to it not being chiefly a psychological issue but rather an immune response to certain psychological conditions. The idea is that essentially your body's immune system generates symptoms in response to certain psychological triggers that we normally expect from physical ailments like a viral infection, a bacterial infection, a cut, a broken bone, or even a bruise.

For example, if you catch a cold the actual virus doesn't cause many of your symptoms, it is actually your own immune system generating them in an attempt to fight off the virus. A lot of the time the immune response can be a lot more serious than the initial symptoms from the virus to begin with. This might seem like an 'oversight' on behalf of your immune system but making you feel like shit is actually the whole point. Your body doesn't want you wasting any energy when it is fighting off the infection, it wants to sit your ass down on your couch and look completely pathetic so OTHER humans will expend energy to help you.

Well, I'm not an expert on the issue, but if any of this interests anyone reading then I would recommend searching around google with the keywords 'depression' and 'inflammation' (inflammation is sort of the immune systems generic response to anything it deems bad).

Don't use your intellect (which really isn't as mighty as you think) as a defense against being hurt by others. You're not as deep as you think. In fact, you should let yourself be shallow. You won't lose anything, and it will only deepen your connection with the short term, everyday circumstances that occupy the bulk of people's lives. The best way to connect with others is to find things that you both like or both hate, and shallow, superficial cultural artifacts are useful because they provide easy points for this identification. Most people are deeper than you think, but you need to connect with them before you can get to that. Be patient. Listen. Don't try to convince them you're right. Meet them where they are and let yourself believe everything they say. You can always offer another point of view later.

I was born in 85 and I do not see a difference with the young shitheads.

the obvious change is the mobile internet. Today children revolve around this and I glad to avoid having mobile internet at school, where mockery can reach a new level.
The good news is that shaming on the internet does not last, even though the consequences are deeper. Of course, the people being shamed will shame other people too, so there will be no end to thi.s

otherwise, teens today dwell even more about american entertainment and they love to try to speak english.

they also want to feel deep, but the social media makes them believe that they are deep for liking/disliking such or such idea/activity because somebody else on FB agrees on this. It is really stupid but little communities makes people think they are right.

Last point is that older people think that ''having wikipedia in your hand'' will change the world. THis is deluded ''liberalism is to educated people, not being hedonistic'' liberal tier.

The whores 2.0 can earn a bit of money by leading men to provide for them, just by showing their boobs.
The female teens have also access to a wider herd of males and males love to entertain girls online, so this is nice for girls.

I like also that men now go to the gym, only to please girls. men take pictures of them naked in bathroom, just like girls, but they do not broadcast this.
Men get now that their place is to please women.

Your self image is at the center of everything in your life. Everything will point at it, and it will be the burning flame to make you excel or fail at anything you are currently doing.

Be it writing (am I sturdy enough to endure this writing session until completion?)
Be it exercising (I've been practicing, could I lift that much by now?)
Be it flirting (am I good enough that I can make this person feel attracted by me?)

And the most unseen truth is that you are. You will need to practice coming from ground zero, you will fail, but you are.
One thing people overlook is how the masters have failed more than any "loser" has ever tried.

The easiest way to look at this: When you're confronted with the thing you reason you should do and the thing you want to do, do the former. You will be better for it most of the times.

At 15, you think of your 20
at 20 you think of your 25
at 25, you think of your 30
at 30, well this one is big, you think of your 35 and 40
at 35, you think of your 40 and 45
at 40, you think of your 50
at 45 you think of you 55 and 60

until you reach 25 you think about your pleasures ahead

at 25, you wonder whether hedonism or suicide is all there is to life, but you fail to find an escape, especially to find a solution on your own. So why not do what everybody else does, after all, it cannot be so bad if so many people do it?
But of course, you know that you are too scared to pull off suicide and even worse, you hear that ''suicide is for pussies'', plus you tell yourself that it would make your mom cry. So you stick to hedonism and try to make your life full of ''good moments''.

you clearly despise to be alone
(this applies to men only, since women cannot be alone naturally at this age)

at 30 you still have not seen anything outside hedonism, so you stick to it and strive for it.
You know that junk food and beer take their toll and you hit the gym but you notice that 25 yo men have been already the gym for a few years already while claiming that ''they do not do it for girls, they swear''. You notice that women at work or in social circles outside of work notice your work at the gym. You soon understand that no matter how much you lift, your face remain average.

at 35 you fully know that trying to keep being a normie is draining and requires means that you do not have, even worse, means that other people have, more or less for free or without much effort, but not you [typically for housing, where the babyboomers have the power on the estate market and girls]. You notice that other women appreciate you more, if you are already in a relationship.

at 40 you clearly think that being a normie is worth it, especially if you think that 30-yo gf is not cucking you or bear ''your'' child and you do above average at your job.

at 45, you wonder, jsut like your gf approaching 40 (but you do not know it), whether breaking up is not an option and you want to ''offer the best to your kids'', you go fantasizing about being a libertarian, as in dreaming about taxing 100% of the inheritance to have more equal society, mostly out of bitterness from the older generation (who "has it all"), but clearly, and you are even pride of this, you stick to playing by the rules of the game of the baby boomers so that perhaps, one day, you would have all their riches. (because if you would stop this game right now, you imagine easily being swindled wrt to the people who play the game, LIke the misanthrope who like the idea of the humanity dying, but ofc only if he is the last man to die.)

at 50, you just want to retire and see your daughter avoid marrying (whatever you put behind) ''the pleb'' but you are happy that some guy chooses to provide for her (just like you did at his age) or rather you build a sweet certitude that your daughter will do well without too much work on your side, nor on her side... You want your children to find a job instead of costing you money, especially the boy since boys end up too many times back to their room (for a few years) since girls find a way to shack up with whatever man is ready to pay the rent.

at 65, After some of your acquaintances have died or been ill, You fear cancer more and more and you think that, all those years, your wife was right to be a ball breaker about pesticides on apples and salads and that she better sticks to organic products.

your 60 yo wife drags you to some ''meditation learning course'' where you are taught that ''the capitalist society is wrong in making people consume more and more and happiness is just being nice to people and letting go'' and you must learn to ''follow your breath'' while crossing your legs 15 minutes a day. It hurts your knees too much to do it, so you do not do it.

You are also at peace with cucking. You even think that it is expected and that ''everybody is a cuck anyway''.

you tell your children that it is worth it to be a normie and hope to die in your sleep with someone on your side.

Kek. The centers of hedonism and solitude (cities) are somehow not nihilistic? In the 21st century, almost 95% of people living in a city are atheist (in the west). Most theists in the west live in the countryside. Plus the countryside is much more comfy. You must be poor to say that cities are more civilized.

Books end up taking up a lot of space and are a total bitch to move. So only keep books you can't part with, either cause you like them so much or cause they're useful for reference. Don't be ridiculous as to keep a book you didn't like or hold onto that one book you've left unread for years and have no real interest in anymore. This is the path to virtue. Always keep the final things in mind when doing anything. This will make your time on earth valuable.
2. Be completely honest when it comes to defending your views, but do not pretend to know things which you don't. This will purge your false friends from your true ones. If you have diametrically opposed views and they stick around it is a good sign.
3. Focus on reading a topic of interest and be good at it. You will not be able to pursue epistemology alongside something completely unrelated to a satisfactory degree.

2) reading is a nice hobby, especially if you remove any obligation to finish a book, or brag about finishing a book, and just read for the purpose of immersing yourself in another world and appreciating the writing quality and the hard work and thought the author put into it, for great writers I find that I never want the book to end.

u should clarify the reading thing. reading is only a step or two above tv and videogames if you do it mindlessly. you've wasted your time if you force yourself through a Work of Literature and then think that just because you've read every word in order that you've gained something from the experience. Actually understanding the book is the key. Probably valuable even if your interpretation is "wrong". As long as you've been marking pages, writing thoughts in the margins, and can write two or three meaningful pages on the book afterwards, you're doing a good job. Not a huge think to ask oneself. This will definitely improve your ability to think critically about literature. Plus, when you inevitably forget most of the book, you can look back at your notes and remember both its content and your own analysis.

Don't belittle other people for falling into so-called "traps", just because you haven't fallen in a specific type of trap most of your peers do, doesn't mean you haven't fallen into a trap.
You have your own set of vices, accept them and act against them.

2) Don't allow yourself to go to sleep too late, usually in front of a computer screen, when you look at the clock and it says 11pm, have the foresight to see yourself fastforward 5 hours, at 4am, typing shit away on an anonymous imageboard and then feeling depressed for the next hour or two and not getting any sleep at all. Go to fucking sleep.

3) Don't be ashamed of your inabilities at any given time, admit to yourself that there are certain things you do not know and cannot comprehend at a certain point in time, but also know that these concepts were constructed by ordinary people hundreds of years ago that didn't have access to any of the resources you have at your disposal now. If there was ever a point in history when it was easy to learn these things - it's right here and right now.

4) Don't shame yourself for being born in a country in which you think people "don't get you", yes, plenty of other people think so to, but they either end up being massively successful or kill themselves. If you're going to be angry at something out of your control then use it to fuel your dreams.

5) Don't be afraid to completely forsake modern technology (instant messaging, social networks, news media outlets, images of false reality) if you think it even gives you a chance of working towards something meaningful that you wouldn't be able to work towards otherwise.

G.E Moore makes a really good point that people foolishly think you can create the best possible good on earth by simply removing pain. Moore says that cultivating goodness in all forms available is equally as important. I hope this doesn't sound mean, but what do you do for fun? What are you passionate about? What makes you feel fulfilled? Learning?

Idk i hope I don't sound too harsh, but your post just conflicts with the way I live my life, and I feel very happy and fulfilled. Curious as to how you make this sort of thing work.

Also, being relentlessly cynical and ironic will ultimately never be a positive attribute

>but living a life devoid of duty to something higher is precisely the reason why our current world is so shitty.

I really don't think it's about how people react. Debating people dilutes our personal knowledge. It forces us to take/defend stances and to corrupt our personal learning. It convinces us that there is a right or a wrong answer to something.

Debate is pointless because no one can ever be right about anything. Therefore avoid the fallacy of debate.
