I recently started using John Kabat-Zinn's guided meditation. I'm going on a vipassna retreat in two weeks. Do any /lit/izens have any more good references? Do any of you guys meditate? Does it help? I find it does but I'm still relatively neophyte and undisciplined and looking for something easier to digest that can help my practice.

This book is basically a re-hashing of Kabat-Zinn, slightly easier to digest. It even has a foreword by him. It's pretty good if you're specifically looking for western oriented mindfulness techniques that distill eastern practices into something more palatable for western academics.

Just read Buddhaghosa's Vishuddhimagga, practice nonstop until you reach sotapanna and you'll be able to take it from there on your own
