I'll be honest, being on /lit/ makes me feel shit about both what I read and write. I'm a crossboarder from /tg/ and can handle the bantz there, but here the entire attitude feels toxic. Enjoyment, no matter what you're enjoying is incorrect. Don't know, can I just not take the bantz or is /lit/ actually a toxious community?

I've found this to be the most unilaterally accepting board. My literary opinions are enthusiastically accepted, my critiques are found useful. and my subtle shitposts get many keks and (You)'s.

You need to read more. Try and stop subvocalizing, kid, it's slowing you to a snail pace.

you just have to come to terms with the fact that, at the end of the day, what is "good" and "bad" literature is completely up to you. stop caring so much about what other people think, read the things you like, and realize that the opinions of people on this board literally don't matter. it's fun for discussion, but don't take it so seriously

What are you a woman? Fuck this "toxic environment" shit, every board is plagued with elitism shitposting. Why do you care so much what other people think?

fuck off

/tg/ is one of the tamest boards on 4chan. It allows anyone and anything. For some, that's great. For others, that's "no standards."

/lit/ is all about standards. If something is believed to be shit, we'll call it shit. When you write something, you're not competing against your peers. You're competing against thousands of years of collected literature. When you read, likewise, you have available to you the most vast source of knowledge in human history; if you look at it this way, an interest in YA or fantasy or sci-fi suddenly becomes a little less acceptable.

Only if you're actually on the retard level of elitist.

I generally would describe /lit/ as sort of the grundle of the hobbiest boards. It's a place of parroted opinions, shitty memes, and some of the silliest levels of elitism. Somehow it ended up being worse than /mu/, which is a feat in and of itself.

And yet without those the board would be like r/books.

It isn't perfect but I'll take /lit/ over that any day.

We enjoy bad food, that doesn't mean it's good for us.
We enjoy unhealthy activities, that doesn't mean they're good for us.
We enjoy mean and ugly thoughts, that doesn't mean they're good for us.
We enjoy badly written books, that doesn't mean they're good for us.

Except that /lit/ has good taste. I only ever visit /mu/ about twice a year and see nothing but hiphop and shoegaze rock. If /lit/ were like /mu/ we would almost exclusively read only America books written after the 60's

You're a legitimate pleb. Piss off back to your escapism board, manchild. Pathetic on the same level as /v/.
