I thought it was very enjoyable—great prose, funny characters, interesting discussions/debates, reads like an experiment. Melville uses the characters to really fuck with you, and in the end you're not sure who to trust—not even Melville's narrator. To me, it was one of those books I immediately wanted to reread when I finished it.

I'm not sure what Bloom was talking about, but to each his own.
