Hardly, his stories are extremely sympathetic to blacks. But his white characters frequently use the word nigger and he portrays black people as uneducated and often dependent on white charity, so a lot of progressives have a bone to pick. Personally I think they can all go rot. He's in the running for greatest American fiction writer ever
