I want to make a German language recommended reading picture that's a little more comprehensive than the old one.

It covers the classics just fine but I'm interested in modern recommendations and a bigger variety of topics including genre literature.

You could help me by posting books you'd want to see included.

How about Peter Stamm? Either "Agnes" or "Weit über das Land".

Also pic related.

I haven't read either. Translations should be available too, so I'd rather include Agnes.

Yeah, Agnes is the better known work anyways.

Not sure if poetry counts but Rilke has written down some of the most beautiful things ever said in German.

Try Max Frisch, language wise not too difficult.

Children's book. No offense meant. Try Momo, Krabat, Die Unendliche Geschichte, Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer, Tintenherz, Der Herr der Diebe, Das Sams, Die Kleine Hexe, Emil und die Detektive, Oh wie schön ist Panama

Friedrich Dürrenmatt isn't too hard imo.

Why is there no Brecht on this list? Mother Courage and her Children NEEDS to be on there
