Is this even readable if I'm a total pleb when it comes to science and math?

Saw it at a flea market and bought it on a whim since I've seen it discussed here.

How about shutting down your computer for 20 mins, opening it, skimming it and trying to read the first chapter?

Sorry, but what are you even doing here? Trying to find out if it's "cool"?

Fucking /thread.

Read the first chapter or two and see if you like or not instead of asking us.

I'm pretty sure that any book that has 'metaphorical fugue' in its subtitle won't be concerned with too much actual math.

Yeah, fuck trying to get a discussion about actual literature and books going. Let's just keep shitting up /lit/ with religion vs atheism threads.

Spoken like a true theist. Sorry you're out of touch with reality to the point where you make a thread like this.

Why dont you read the book then try and create a discussion instead of talking out of your ass.

I got halfway through the first sentence and remembered I don't read

Hofstadter is really full of himself but the book is quite interesting and informative nonetheless.
I particularly enjoyed the parts about formal languages and logic

He wrote a more accessible / shorter version called "I am a stranger loop"

consider giving that a shot if you can into GEB.

Read both. GEB is much more various and about many things in life that can be used as an example of what he's going to describe, while "I am a stranger loop" is MUCH more polished, but way less "pushing", it has no code, no biological examples (mosquitoes), and it's more philosophical-religious, probably because his wife died.

One of my favourite book, and the only one I read that clearly states what I exactly think about "the perception of choosing"
