>all things are nothing to me
What did he mean by this?

>> No.7003825

Dis iz nihilizm OP there is no point in finding the meaning.

>> No.7003839

Funny how some 10 second shit-tier drawing of Stirner has become the main depiction of him.

>> No.7003913

He probably is talking about spooks again. Abstract causes like nationalism, religion alienate the individual and so he calls them worthless.

It's always about those damn ghosts! I've had it with them, I'm becoming a fucking priest now.

He said "all things", Stirner wasn't picky in the subjects of his nihilistic rage. Hence why he never bothered to come up with an alternative other than a "whatever".

This. That translation is fucked.

>> No.7007253

>>7006741
it's kind of fitting tbh
anarchists are pretty much cucks who want voluntary anarchism for everyone while stirner's philosophy justifies a conqueror's subjugation of those weaker than him or something worst, as long as he isn't spooked. so it isn't surprising they'd hijack the translation.

What's the difference between all things being nothing to you and being concerned with nothing?

>> No.7007294

>>7007273

There is a similar claim by Camus that states to the effect, "To live life without appeal." In this case, without appeal to a higher order, a God, a set of ethics, a State, etc. To appeal to no other, other than the Self. Nihilism in this case isn't an epistemological or metaphysical nihilism. It is an egoistic qualified form of nihilism that makes no appeal to something exterior.

>> No.7007306

But isn't the self something?

>> No.7007332

It means that he places nothing higher than his self, he is the enemy of all higher powers and makes them his property instead of the other way round.

>> No.7007338

>>7007331
Well let's say: God, Ethics, State, etc are a goal for people who are non-egoists. In this case, whatever was it that pushed people to self-perfection or striving for something great is no longer brought by these things, but the Self instead, it's just that the Self has different concerns so even though they might not lead to the same path it is still a driving force.

>> No.7007387

>>7007338

I think I understand you point, but I think Stirner's point is that these higher orders obscure the self, and make the self subservient to them, rather than the other way around. The self should be acknowledged as the 'fundamental ground' through which all other things have their trace/genesis. Without a self, there would be no ethics, God, state, etc.

"I've placed my cause upon nothing" isn't solipsism, it just means that he acts on himself, not God or Man or Good. It's not fucking solipsism.
